Essential Oils for Healthy Scalp

Personal Care | 0 comments

I like to use essential essential oils during my daily hair care routine to support a clean, healthy scalp.

Do you massage your scalp before shampooing?  Scalp massage with pure therapeutic grade essential oils is a wonderful way to pamper yourself and promote a healthy scalp and lush head of hair.  Giving yourself a scalp massage is a great way to pamper yourself like you are in a luxury salon while producing fabulous benefits.

You can also add a drop of any of these oils to your shampoo or conditioner to experience their benefits to your hair and scalp.

  • Geranium - Add 1-2 drops of Geranium to your shampoo in the palm of your hand before lathering up your hair.  Geranium helps keep your scalp looking clean and healthy, plus it gives your hair shine and a beautiful smell.
  • Lavender - Using Lavender on your head and hair can help keep your scalp looking clean and healthy, while softening and soothing hair that requires extra love and conditioning.
  • Melaleuca - When you see a flake appear on your shoulder, it is time to reach for the Melaleuca ASAP!  Use Melaleuca for a soothing, restorative scalp massage that will keep you from "flaking out".  Use on its own, combine with Lime, or combine with Rosemary and Basil.
  • Rosemary - Apply Rosemary to your scalp and massage for an abundant-looking head of hair.  Combine with Lavender for a spa-like aromatic scalp massage and amp up the results.
  • Ylang Ylang - Massage Ylang Ylang into your scalp to increase the appearance of healthy, shiny hair and enjoy the pretty floral scent popular in many perfumes.

As you can see, there are many choices and combinations.  I really like combining a drop of Lavender and a drop of Rosemary in my shampoo for the herbaceous scent and to promote growth and renewal.  And Geranium is my favorite to add to my conditioner for the beautiful smell and shine it gives my hair; I keep a bottle in my shower all the time.
