Make Your Own Potpourri

Make your home smell warm and welcoming with a unique, personalized potpourri blend.  You can also make pretty bags of your potpourri creation as a thoughtful gift to give throughout the holiday season.

Get creative with whimsical touches, too!  Incorporate surprises and found objects into your individual blend, like pieces of colorful frayed ribbon, shiny glass, interesting rocks, and bits of twig.  Have fun with this for a fresh and eclectic twist.

If gifting, it would be super nice and thoughtful to provide the recipient with a bottle of oil along with the potpourri to use to refresh the scent when to starts to fade.

Ingredients:

• Example options for Potpourri base:
  • Bay Leaves
  • Cardamom Seeds
  • Cinnamon Sticks
  • Dried Fruit
  • Orange Peels
  • Star Anise
  • Vanilla Beans
  • Whole Cloves
  • Whole Nutmeg
• Example options for Essential Oils:
  • Cardamom
  • Cassia
  • Cinnamon Bark
  • Clove
  • Ginger
  • Vetiver
  • Wild Orange

(Tip: You can use doTERRA's On Guard blend as a perfect scent for your homemade potpourri.  It is warm and Cinnamon-spicy with the sweetness of Wild Orange.)

Instructions:  Mix and assemble the potpourri base as desired and add about 5-10 drops of your chosen essential oil blend.  Use more or less oil depending on how strong you want the scent and how large a batch you are making.  After a couple weeks, the aroma will start to face, so add more drops of oil.  Be sure to garnish with your whimsical touches!
