Make It Yourself

A Little Peace You Can Wear

Some days call for calm tucked close to your heart. Others for clarity, courage, or a gentle reminder to breathe.

Aromatherapy diffuser jewelry carries a quiet kind of magic. It’s intentional, simple, and beautifully personal—a necklace that holds scent, a bracelet that becomes a ritual. With just a drop or two of essential oil on a hidden felt pad, the aroma lingers softly throughout the day, offering comfort without overpowering.

What I love most is how effortless it is. No cords, no schedules—just choosing an oil that matches your mood and letting it unfold as you move through life. From silver locket‑style pieces to leather and bead designs, there are endless ways to wear your intention.

Aromatherapy diffuser jewelry is one of my favorite ways to enjoy emotional and mood support all day long—an easy, wearable reminder to slow down and come back to yourself.

If you want to make your own, here’s one way to do it out of terra-cotta clay, which absorbs the essential oils and then releases them slowly throughout the day.  Anytime you want, like when you’re feeling stressed, nervous, tired, or blue, you can also raise just the jewelry to your nose and inhale more deeply for a supportive aromatherapy boost.  (I like to do this before presentations or when I’m feeling anxious and need to get a grip and relax.)

Use a single essential oil or any blend, based on the support you are looking for, or just have fun and use an oil as perfume because you like the way it smells.  Be creative with your blends or get one that is already formulated for the support you need.  Refresh the oil throughout the day as desired.

This aromatherapy jewelry is made out of natural terra-cotta clay, which absorbs essential oils.  You can make any type of jewelry, or apply the same method for making hanging diffusers, ornaments, and whatever you want to create.

Materials:

  • Terra-cotta clay
  • Sandpaper
  • Small stamps
  • Toothpick
  • String
  • Small shape to use for cutout (ex. small cookie cutter or lid)
  • Rolling pin
  • Scissors
  • Aluminum foil
  • Wax paper

Instructions:

Roll the terra-cotta clay in your hands until soft, then use rolling pin to roll out clay to 1/8 inch thickness on wax paper.  Use the shape tool to cut out the jewelry and then stamp your design into the clay.  Make a hole for hanging using the toothpick.  Place on cookie sheet covered in aluminum foil and follow the directions on the clay to bake or air dry.  When completely dry, smooth out rough edges with sandpaper.  Loop string through the hole.  Add essential oil or a blend and rub onto the clay (refresh as needed).
