A Soft Scent That Lingers

There’s something quietly beautiful about scent that doesn’t rush. Not a burst or a button—but a slow unfolding, drifting gently through the room like afternoon light.

Reed diffusers are a simple, timeless way to bring aroma into a space. They sit calmly on a countertop or shelf, adding both beauty and a steady, natural fragrance. While many store‑bought versions rely on mystery ingredients, making your own reed diffuser lets you keep things clean, intentional, and aligned with the feeling you want to create at home.

With just a few accessible ingredients, you can create a diffuser that carries the scent of real plants—soft florals, grounding woods, bright citrus—without plugs, heat, or noise. The reeds slowly draw the oil upward, releasing aroma little by little, filling the space in a subtle, comforting way.

These DIY reed diffusers are perfect for places where you want ongoing scent without upkeep: bathrooms, entryways, bedrooms, offices, or anywhere you’d like a quiet layer of calm. Every few days, flipping the reeds refreshes the scent, inviting it to bloom once again.
It’s a small ritual, but a meaningful one—choosing oils you love and letting them gently shape the mood of your space.

Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup fractionated coconut oil
  • 15 drops pure essential oil (any diffuser blend)
  • Reed diffuser sticks (available at craft stores)

Instructions:  Pour the fractionated coconut oil into a glass bottle with a mouth just wide enough to hold the reeds at an angle where they will fan out a bit. Add the essential oils. Place reed diffuser sticks into bottle. It takes a little bit of time (up to a day) for the essential oil blend to work it’s way up through the reeds. Tip: Every two to three days, flip the reeds to increase the aromatics.
